Tall bearded irises rising from the marsh grass at the water's edge, deep purple petals catching the morning sun, one quiet white bloom standing among them. Beyond, a soft pond reflects the sky, and the green of early summer trees softens the far shore.

This painting brings the threshold between garden and open water into the room — the kind of light that belongs to a May morning, the kind of quiet that settles over a pond when the wind dies down. It asks for a wall where it can be looked at slowly. Above a console in an entryway, in a sitting room beside a window, at the end of a hallway where it greets you each time you pass — the painting carries the outdoors in.
