Hand-built in porcelain and finished in a soft celadon glaze, this fluted urn rises on a slender pedestal to a crown of applied flowers — each petal formed and placed by hand. The vertical channels catch the light like the folds of a column, while the pale green glaze settles into every recess, deepening the relief and quieting the form.
There is a moment in the firing when porcelain turns soft as warm wax, and the form begins to move on its own. This urn eased into a gentle lean as it cooled — a living asymmetry, given by the fire and impossible to reproduce. It is part of what makes the piece singular.
It asks for very little — a single stem, a few blossoms gathered from the garden — and gives a great deal in return. Empty, it stands as sculpture. Filled, it becomes the quiet center of a table.
One of a kind. 9"H × 3"W. Porcelain, food-safe, watertight.
