Openwork: Coastal — Tidepool

Where the tide pulls back, it leaves this — pooled celadon caught in the hollows, warm cream and sand spreading across the exterior, the rim irregular as a shoreline and just as unhurried. The openwork gaps read differently from every angle: lace from across the room, coral up close, raw stone at the edge where the glaze burns to amber. At this scale it doesn’t accent a surface. It claims it.

Hand-built from stoneware, each opening cut and shaped individually before firing. The layered glaze — celadon interior shifting to cream and warm earth on the exterior — develops through the kiln, not the brush. No two pieces from this series are identical.
